Malfeitona’s art-making methodology is “get it done”, a Bahian translation of the punk concept D.I.Y. (Do It Yourself). Just as his uncle’s grocery store, which sells dried meat and food during the day, functions as a bar at night and as a garage for his car in the early hours of the morning, Malfeitona believes that artists can create and offer art of various types – from music to ceramics, from graffiti murals to jewelry, from event booklets to book covers. All of Malfeitona’s works, regardless of the medium or platform, are permeated by the concept of Tropical Darkzera, concept that goes beyond content and aesthetics, also encompassing the form and way of being in the artist’s world.
